Reserve Price Floor:
Under RBI rules effective April 1, 2026, your gold's auction reserve price must not be less than
90%
of its current assessed value.
After 2 Failed Auctions:
The minimum floor may reduce to
85%
— but never below that under any circumstances.
LTV Limits (Apr 2026):
≤₹2.5L → 85% LTV · ₹2.5–5L → 80% LTV · Above ₹5L → 75% LTV.
Valuation:
Based on actual purity + net weight + RBI benchmark price. Stones and gems are excluded from the calculation entirely.
Surplus Refund:
If auction proceeds exceed your total dues, the balance
must
be returned to you by the lender per RBI directions.
A bank debit appears, but the gold loan balance looks unchanged. The uncertainty is understandable: money has left one account without a matching repayment entry being visible in the other. A gold loan payment deducted but not updated needs transaction-level checking, rather than another payment made simply to refresh the balance.
The relevant comparison is between the bank’s final transaction record and the regulated lender’s current loan statement. A debit alone does not establish how the repayment was allocated, while an old statement may exclude a later transaction. This article explains the records to compare, applicable RBI protections and the evidence that confirms the original payment’s outcome.
Before treating an absent entry as a missing payment, the statement’s issue date and covered period matter. A statement generated before the transaction will not establish what happened afterwards.
The intended loan also needs identifying through its account reference. A borrower with multiple accounts may be viewing a different loan or an earlier statement.
For example, a bank debit made after a statement’s closing date requires comparison with a later account record. That timing difference is separate from a payment that the lender confirms it never received.
Payment reconciliation focuses on the amount, date, destination and transaction reference. A receipt provides useful evidence, but its meaning depends on what it confirms.

Where different references appear in different systems, the bank or payment provider’s trace helps connect them. An unchanged balance alone does not explain whether the problem concerns transfer completion, loan allocation or display.
To resolve a gold loan payment status mismatch, the enquiry identifies the original transaction and the precise gap in the records.
Useful supporting information includes:
The requested outcome is a trace and explanation of where the payment stands. If received, the lender’s response establishes how it was applied. If unsuccessful or returned, the corresponding records establish that outcome.
An acknowledgement records the query; it does not confirm repayment credit.
RBI’s framework for failed transactions using authorised payment systems sets turnaround times according to the payment route and failure category. It also provides compensation, where applicable, for delays beyond prescribed limits, without requiring a separate customer claim.
Those protections are relevant where the transaction meets the framework’s conditions. They do not create one universal posting or refund deadline for every loan-payment mismatch.
The bank or payment provider’s trace establishes whether the transfer failed or reached the recipient. The lender’s reconciliation separately explains its treatment in the loan account.
Note: A failed transfer and a payment received but incorrectly allocated are different situations. Applicable timelines and corrective action depend on the established facts.
The revised gold-collateral framework required implementation no later than 1 April 2026, with transitional treatment for loans sanctioned before the lender adopted it.
For consumption loans against eligible collateral, maximum LTV ratios are:

Maximum LTV |

Up to ₹2.5 lakh |
85% |
|
Above ₹2.5 lakh and up to ₹5 lakh |
80% |

Above ₹5 lakh |
75% |
LTV compares outstanding borrowing with assessed collateral value; bullet-loan calculations include the total repayable at maturity. These limits do not prescribe payment-posting periods.
An uncertain transaction creates a duplicate-payment risk if another payment is made without establishing the first outcome. At the same time, a pending enquiry does not itself extend the due date.
The lender’s written response helps clarify current dues, treatment of the disputed payment and the accepted next action. Any effective credit date or adjustment needs confirmation rather than assumption.
Supporting documents remain limited to the relevant evidence and any verification required through official channels. Live OTPs, MPINs and passwords are excluded from complaint records.
The important outcome is a documented explanation of the original transaction, supported by matching bank and loan records. A later balance change is useful only when its connection to that payment is clear. Likewise, a returned amount explains the bank position but leaves the current loan obligation to be confirmed.
To resolve a gold loan payment status mismatch, the focus remains on the same reference, its final outcome and any correction made. Payment-system protections apply according to their conditions, while repayment terms remain separately relevant. The practical consideration is whether the evidence now explains both where the money went and what amount, if any, remains payable.
No. It records money leaving the payer’s account. The lender’s receipt, statement entry or reconciliation confirms receipt and allocation against the intended loan.
Not alone. Transaction, processing and posting dates describe different events. The specific reference and final records explain whether a discrepancy requires correction.
Not necessarily. Its purpose and covered period matter. Current transaction records and the loan statement provide the relevant comparison for a recent repayment.
A refreshed screen may show newer information, but it does not itself establish reconciliation. The original payment remains traceable through its reference and account entry.
